Dr. James Bales grew up in Eagle River, Alaska and attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. He obtained his MD/PhD specializing in traumatic brain injury. After medical school, he completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. After completing residency, he returned home to Alaska to pursue a career in general neurosurgery. He has published multiple book chapters and scientific articles on brain injury, which remains his area of interest. He has about a decade of experience in the treatment and stabilization of both traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
