Madrian Shirley

For nearly 20 years, Madrian Shirley has worked in the field of Corrections both in Alaska and Arizona.  Madrian Shirley is considered an expert in her field; through hard work and continuing her education goals, she has worked as a CNA to a LPN and, for the last 12 years, as an RN.  During her career, she has successfully worked with this underserved population as a floor nurse, supervisor and promoted to nurse educator.

Madrian is currently a RN IV/Nurse Educator who works at the Alaska Department of Corrections.  As Nurse Educator as her core skill, she has built and integrated multiple statewide curriculums for all corrections staff.  COVID-19 has been a major focus and also a revolving door with sometimes daily changes and updates to the department.  As part of the leadership team, Madrian has brought her expertise as a nurse and nurse educator to successfully help staff and inmates understand COVID while keeping all safe.
