Shannon Davenport has been in healthcare in some form or another for the past 26 years. She began her nursing career as a CNA, and it has led her to varied nursing roles and educational pursuits, to include a doctorate in Nursing. She has had the privilege to work in various fields of nursing to include Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Psych Nursing, Wound Care, Faith-based/Parish Nursing and her current positions as a Hospice Nurse, PACU/OR nurse, and one of the Co-Chairs for the AaNA Legislative Committee. When not working, she enjoys competing in Strongman events, goat wrangling at goat yoga, and watching her teenage daughter grow into a smart, outstanding young woman. As her favorite nursing professor told her decades ago, nursing is an art and a science that can only grow through innovation and the pursuit of knowledge; she believes that as nurses we can change the future of nursing and create a better tomorrow for our patients, their families, and potential nurses to come.
