Marisa Bune is currently a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Marisa serves as the Co-Chair of Undergraduate Programs in the UAA College of Health, School of Nursing. She has been a faculty member since 2023. Prior to her role at UAA, Marisa has also taught in other nursing programs with a focus on Nursing Leadership and Management and Education, and Advanced Medical/Surgical. Marisa’s extensive background encompasses roles such as a Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular ICU, Surgical ICU, Critical Care Educator, and a Leadership and Management position in Cardiovascular Services. Marisa’s FNP role included caring for patients with diabetes type 1 and type 2, on insulin pump, and patients with new-onset diabetes after kidney transplantation (NODAT). Marisa is currently in the process of completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, with a focus on unresolved professional traumatic grief in the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
